My neighborhood is abit diverse with plenty whites, Asians, Indians, blacks and hispanics. Aphenomenological community exists because the people in it have a commoninterest. All of us live in a geopolitical community and many of us are part ofa phenomenological community (Maurer & Smith, 2013). It is impressive how this student has utilized the concepts of geopolitical and phenomenological communities in describing their own community. The student’s description shows an understanding that people in a community may have different backgrounds, customs, and beliefs, but they can still have a common interest or goal. It is also good to see that the student recognizes the challenges that nurses may face when dealing with a community with various issues such as language barrier, cultural differences, and high crime rates.
Furthermore, the student’s suggestion on using the community as Partner model and energy model to conduct a community assessment and determine where needs are is commendable. This shows the student’s knowledge and understanding of the importance of gathering data and using appropriate theories to address concerns in the community. The student also highlights the importance of understanding customs, beliefs, and utilizing community strengths when planning an intervention.
Overall, the student has presented a well-written argument and has shown a good understanding of the concepts of geopolitical and phenomenological communities, as well as how this relates to nursing practice.
